Thursday, October 11, 2012
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
8th floor Alcove, Dubinsky Student Center

Fashion historian Patricia Yage will discuss the renaissance of Spanish craftwork in accessories. A new breed of designers is marrying old techniques with innovative design to produce espadrilles, leather goods, basketwork, and blankets. The Spanish craftwork industry currently produces this merchandise for such renowned labels as Prada and Dolce & Gabanna, and the Spanish traditional style has influenced designers Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino.

Patricia Yage was born in Spain. She holds a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Rome. She is an adjunct professor at IED Madrid, where she teaches Creative Direction and Communication. In the last two years she has collaborated with the Museum at FIT, particularly in the development of international projects with Mexico. She is currently pursuing studies in Economics at SUNY.
