Adjusted Grading Policy

Recognizing the impact caused by the coronavirus on students’ academic journey, the college has approved a revised extension to spring 2020's adjusted grading policy. As a result, students will be able to select up to six credits of coursework taken during fall 2020 and spring 2021 semester for which a grade of “S” can be assigned in lieu of a normal letter grade. Learn more here.

COVID-19 Testing for Students

In accordance with a SUNY mandate, FIT is conducting mandatory weekly coronavirus testing of all on-campus students. "On-campus students" typically fall into three categories: residential students, students utilizing labs/studios on campus, and graduate students taking classes at FIT for summer 2021. There are approximately 500 students who fit this category.

  • Weekly testing is mandatory for all unvaccinated students.

Details can be found on the COVID-19 Testing page.

Sanctions for Student Violations of COVID-19 Safety Protocols

On Oct. 1, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras instituted a policy that applies to every SUNY campus, including FIT, establishing minimum sanctions for students who violate COVID-19 safety protocols, which include potential suspension from campus housing for at least one year, suspension from classes for at least one year, or dismissal from the college. Because FIT has a small on-campus population this semester, administrators do not anticipate having to impose these sanctions. Read the chancellor's full policy here.
