Campus and Facilities

Access to FIT Buildings

Masks Required: Regardless of vaccination status, all students, employees, and visitors are required to wear masks while in all spaces in FIT buildings, including 236 West 27th Street and 333 Seventh Avenue. The single exception is when you are in an office alone or when you are eating and drinking. Mask-wearing will continue until further notice in order to protect those who are unvaccinated and to ensure extra protection for everyone. If you arrive on campus without a mask, you will be given one by a Public Safety officer.

Social Distancing: Social distancing requirements have been eliminated. Mask-wearing is enforced to protect the unvaccinated. All classroom and work spaces are set for standard capacity levels.

FIT IDs and Semester Stickers: All entrances to FIT properties—including 236 West 27th Street, and Floors 13–16 at 333 Seventh Avenue—are open and staffed with Public Safety officers. To gain access, employees and returning students must show an FIT ID with a spring 2020 sticker. With the beginning of the fall semester, Fall 2021 stickers will be distributed.

Employees and new students without ID cards and/or stickers should visit the Feldman Center lobby on their first arrival. Staff are available every day from 9 am to 9 pm to assist.

Ventilation: FIT meets and exceeds all ventilation standards of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of New York, and SUNY.

Cleaning: All FIT spaces are thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis in accordance with CDC, State of New York, and SUNY guidelines.

Read an FAQ about the health and safety standards of FIT's facilities.

Access to The Museum at FIT (MFIT)

The museum is open to visitors, with new hours: Wednesday–Friday, noon–8 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–5 pm.

All visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear a face mask. All visitors are required to present proof of vaccination to enter the galleries, in compliance with a New York City executive order for museums.

To avoid overcrowding, groups entering together should consist of no more than five friends or family members.

Gladys Marcus Library

The library is fully open for in-person service. It also continues to provide some online research and instruction support for faculty, staff, and students. Visit the library website for a full list of services and current hours.

Campus Dining

The FIT Dining Hall is open. Per a New York City executive order about indoor dining, you must show Public Safety officers proof of vaccination to eat inside the dining hall; non-vaccinated people must purchase food and/or drink to go.

The Faculty and Staff Dining Room is closed for fall 2021.
