Program of Study

All students attend morning English language core courses: reading, writing (grammar), speaking, and listening. Core courses meet Monday through Thursday from 8:45-10:45 am and from 11am-1pm. One block focuses on reading and writing skills; the other focuses on listening and speaking skills. Materials give students opportunities to use all of their language skills in authentic and engaging ways.

An afternoon option is chosen by each student:

Option A - 6.5 to 7 hours per week
one business-related English course
two English skill-building elective courses

Option B - 6 to 6.5 hours per week
ESL: iBT TOEFL Prep class two afternoons
one English skill-building elective course

Friday field trips take advantage of NYC cultural institutions, popular neighborhoods, and iconic fashion-related places and events, such as New York Fashion Week.

In addition, students can participate in the full schedule of FIT student activities offered throughout the semester. Students can also register for HOT TOPICS Professional Development noncredit workshops and training programs held in the evening and on weekends. (Tuition is required for each HOT TOPICS program and not included in the IEL fee.)
