Applicant Qualifications
Students seeking admission to FIT’s Graphic Design BFA program must first hold an Associate degree from the FIT program listed below, or an equivalent degree from an accredited and approved institution.

This baccalaureate program is available to applicants from this FIT associate-level program:

  • Communication Design

If you do not hold this degree and still wish to apply, please call the department at 212 217.5630 to schedule an appointment with a department representative.

*Applicants to this program may be required to provide a competitive portfolio.

Transfer applicants are eligible to apply to the Graphic Design BFA program if they have an Associate or Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college in a program that is precisely equivalent to FIT's Communication Design AAS program, or if they will have earned at least 60 credits toward a Bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college in a program that is precisely equivalent to FIT's Communication Design AAS program before enrollment at FIT.

A college program is precisely equivalent if it contains the same major, related-area, and liberal arts distribution as the FIT Communication Design AAS program. Applicants are expected to have already completed the same distribution of major, related-area, and liberal arts courses required for a FIT AAS degree and must present a portfolio.
