Applicant Qualifications
Students seeking admission to FIT’s Packaging Design BFA program must hold an Associate degree from the FIT programs listed below, or an equivalent degree from an accredited and approved institution.
This baccalaureate program is available to applicants from these FIT associate-level programs:
- Communication Design
- Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design
With advisement, the following course must be completed to enter FIT’s Packaging Design BFA program:
- PK211 – INTRODUCTION TO PACKAGING DESIGN
External applicants or applicants without the degrees stated above are eligible to apply directly to the Packaging Design BFA program if you have an Associate or Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college in a program the equivalent to FIT's Communication Design AAS program, or if you will have earned at least 60 credits toward a Bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college in a program equivalent to FIT's Communication Design AAS program before enrollment at FIT.
Your college program is equivalent if it contains the same major area and liberal arts distribution as the FIT Communication Design AAS program. Transfer applicants from college programs that are not precisely equivalent to FIT's Communication Design AAS program should meet with the Chairperson of the Department regarding applying to the Packing Design BFA program.
If you do not hold one of these degrees, or are unsure of your eligibility, please schedule an appointment with the department chairperson to discuss your options.
All applicants to this program will be expected to provide a competitive portfolio.
