Applicant Qualifications
Students seeking admission to FITís Photography BFA program must first hold an Associate degree from the FIT program listed below, or an equivalent degree from an accredited and approved institution.

This baccalaureate program is available to applicants from the FIT associate-level program:

  • Photography

If you do not hold this degree and still wish to apply, please schedule an appointment with the department chairperson to discuss your options.

Applicants to this program will be expected to provide a competitive portfolio.

You are eligible to apply directly to the Photography BFA program if you have an Associate or Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college in a program precisely equivalent to FIT's Photography AAS program, or if you will have earned at least 60 credits toward a Bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college in a program precisely equivalent to FIT's Photography AAS program before enrollment at FIT.

Your college program is precisely equivalent if it contains the same major, related areas, and liberal arts distribution as the FIT Photography AAS program. Transfer applicants from college programs that are not precisely equivalent to FIT's Photography AAS program may not apply to the Photography BFA program.

Admissions Information

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS: See above for degree requirements.

ADMISSIONS DEADLINE: The Admissions deadline date is January 1, 2013.

REQUIRED GPA: Please refer to the†admissions website for entrance requirements. Portfolio review is required for all external applicants. All Photography external applicants require an interview as well.

PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS: Portfolios must be evaluated by the Photography department.

PORTFOLIO REVIEW DATES: Applicants must contact the Photography office to schedule an appointment to show their portfolios. An application needs to be received and processed by the Admissions Department prior to the scheduling of a portfolio evaluation. The Admissions Department will forward information stating about scheduling an in-person interview.

ADMISSIONS DECISIONS: Applicants will be notified of their admissions decisions by mail, via the Office of Admissions. Please do not contact the Photography department to inquire about your admissions decision.
