Adjunct Instructor Josef Zutelgte exhibition “Nip Joint” can be seen March 5 through 10, at City College Art Gallery. The opening Reception is Thursday, March 8, 6pm to 8 pm, and the gallery is located in the Campton – Goethals Building, at 1620 Amsterdam Avenue (Enter at 140th Street).

Pete Hoffmeister, BFA graduate of the Fine Arts Department, and current employee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has artwork featured at "Spattered Columns," an exhibition space operated by Art Connects New York., in an exhibition entitled, “SW!PE Three: Metropolis”. The exhibition runs from March 7th through March 29th, 2012. and features the work of artists employed as guards at various New York City museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Natural History, Guggenheim, Whitney, New Museum, and MoMA PS1. The opening reception takes place from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, March 7th, and the gallery is located at 491 Broadway, 5th Floor, New York, New York 10013. Pete is also is a contributor to SW!PE MAGAZINE, a publication that is independently produced by artists and writers, featuring visual and written work.
Adjunct Instructor Bing Hu’s installation "Shattered Debris, Sheer Transformation” is featured at the Sprint Flatiron Prow Art Space, which is located at 23rd St and 5th Ave., and runs from March 2 through June 2. This exhibit originated at the Brooklyn Museum in 1998. The exhibit can be viewed 24 hours a day from the street, but the space will also be open for viewers to go inside and speak with the artist on Tuesdays from 11am -3pm. Special artist’s talks, demonstrations, and critic’s talks will be a part of this exhibition, dates to be determined. The Opening/Unveiling is Friday, March 2nd, 2012 at 7pm.
Adjunct Assistant Professor Harriet Korman's solo exhibition, New Paintings, can be seen at Lennon, Weinberg, Inc., 514 West 25 Street, from March 1st through April 1st. The opening of the exhibition takes place on March 1st, 6 to 8pm. More info. at www.lennonweinberg.com

Fine Arts Department BFA graduate Raisa Nosova, has a solo exhibition of paintings and animations at Gallery 51, 51 Church Street, Montclair, NJ. “Departure” is the title of three person exhibition featuring Pansum Cheng (FIT Fine Arts sculpture technician), Victor Merriam (Fine Arts BFA student) and Phyllis Merriam. The exhibition takes place 2/20 Gallery, located at 220 West 16th Street, and runs from February 7th through 21st. The opening exhibition is on February 9th, 6-9pm. An exhibit of the work of Fine Arts sculpture students, curated by Fine Arts Chair Stephanie DeManuelle, takes place in the Lobby of the D Building, from January 29th through March 19th. Entitled “Sculpture/Syntax”, the artwork included in the show rethinks of what is appropriate material and subject for sculpture.

Professor Suikang Zhao gives a slide talk on his work, studio practice, and life, as part of the Fine Arts Faculty Talk series, on December 5th at 5pm in room D630, in FIT's D Building.
New paintings by Assistant Professor Tom Evans are featured at Sideshow gallery, 319 Bedford Ave., in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A film about Fine Arts Department Chair Stephanie DeManuelle by film maker Robert DeMaio, entitled 'The Art of Stephanie DeManuelle', is scheduled for November 14th, at 5:30pm, in Room D207 in the D Building of FIT. The 9 minute film includes footage of Stephanie in her studios in NewYork and the Adirondacks, plus interviews with other artists and gallerists. An exhibition entitled “Water, Liquor, Hair”, featuring the paintings of Assistant Professor Julia Jacquette, is featured at the Anna Kustera gallery. “Epicine” is the title of the exhibition organized by Fine Arts club Urban Studio, which takes place at AGallery, 141 West 28th Street, NYC. The exhibition includes artwork that questions established ideas of masculinity and femininity and how that is manifested in visual art, and was selected by guest curator, artist Jo Wood-Brown. The exhibition opens April 8th from 6-8pm.

Fine Arts staff member Pansum Cheng and Fine Arts staff members and alum Marcin Wlodarczyk & Melissa Starke have been given exhibition space at VERGE Art Fair, for a special event on Dec 3rd during Art Basel 2010 called "Hot Commodity", which takes place from 8-11pm at the Maxine Hotel, and also features 5 artists from Miami.
Urban Studio Unbound, the Fine Arts club that includes current students and alumni, is creating artwork for the VERGE Art Fair, Miami Art Basel 2010, in four different locations onsite. Three of the artworks are video installations, and one is a sculptural/mixed media installation piece.
Fine Arts Department Coordinator Melissa Stark co-curated with Fine Arts Alumni Kenneth Park and Garett Klein the exhibition "Remote", at the M55 Art Gallery, 44-02 23rd Street, Long Island City, New York. Suzanne Bocanegra - Recipient of the Rome Prize, has received grants from the Pollack-Krasner Foundation, the Tiffany Foundation, the Joan Mitchell Foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
