FAFSA Priority Filing Deadlines for 2010-2011
NEW STUDENTS - February 15, 2010
CONTINUING STUDENTS - March 1, 2010

You may still apply for financial aid if you have not applied by the FIT deadlines. Apply as soon as possible. Late applications will be considered for what aid is still available at the time your application is reviewed.  You may be required to submit copies of tax forms and other documentation to verify your FAFSA information.  Respond immediately to any requests for documents to avoid delays in processing your application.  For more information on how to apply you may go to How to Apply for Financial Aid.

DIRECT STAFFORD LOAN COUNSELING

If you are student at FIT that has accepted a Direct Subsidized and or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, you are required to participate in Entrance and Exit Counseling.
 
Entrance Counseling is required for students that have been awarded and accepted a Direct Stafford Loan for the first time at FIT. You must participate in an Entrance Counseling Session before your first loan payment can be disbursed into your account. This session will provide you with useful tips and tools and help you understand your loan responsibilities.  We suggest you attend one of the in-person sessions that the Financial Aid Department provides each semester, a list of those sessions for the 2010-2011 sessions will be posted in August. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions you may also fulfill your requirement online by going to www.dl.ed.gov.

Exit Counseling is required for students that have Stafford Loans at FIT and are graduating or leaving the school.  We highly suggest you participate in an Exit Counseling Session at one of the sessions we provide (see Exit Counseling Sessions).  Please contact us prior to attending your session in order for us to prepare a personalized packet for you. If you are unable to attend one of these sessions you may also fulfill the requirement by going to www.dl.ed.gov.
