Sustainable Design Entrepreneurs

This program gives design entrepreneurs the knowledge, tools, and access to resources they need to build a viable business based on sustainable design practices.

Not all courses are offered every semester.
Links direct you to current offerings.

A total of seven courses is required to earn a certificate.

Complete all four core courses in Part I, any two specialization courses in Part II, and FutureLab to earn the Sustainable Design Entrepreneurs certificate. 

Part 1: Required courses:

Fashion Design:

SUS 012    Ethical Fashion I
SUS 013    Ethical Fashion II
SUS 014    Sustainable Textiles: Sourcing and Direct Application
SUS 015    Fashion, Function, and Sustainability
SUS 016    Clothing Reconstruction

Interior Design:
SUS 020    Interior Design: Materials and Eco-Labels
SUS 021    Interior Design: Rehabs, Renovations, New Construction

Product Development:
SUS 032    Sustainable Design Technology: Farm to Retail
SUS 033    PLM to Sustainable Design
SUS 040    Sustainable Product Development I
SUS 041    Sustainable Product Development II

Part III:
CEO 200   FutureLab

Students interested in a Professional Development Certificate of completion must file an affidavit form after completing the first course in the certificate. This will also enable you to obtain your official FIT ID. You may obtain this form from the instructor of your first course or by contacting Andrea Adkins-Miller from Certificate Programs at Andrea_AdkinsMiller@fitnyc.edu. You may also pick it up from the Center for Professional Studies, located in the Pomerantz Center, room D130.
