FIT School of Art and Design Faculty Exhibition

“Lightness” Gallery FIT, The Museum at FIT

The focus of this exhibition is the exploration of the many interpretations associated with “lightness."  Definitions of lightness include illumination, buoyancy, light in value, light in color, light as a feather. Many religions and philosophers have explored the concept of light and lightness.  A broad interpretation of this theme is welcomed in both 2D and 3D entries.

“Romancing the Common Object”  The Lynn and Paul Goldstein Gallery, Marvin Feldman Center 9th Floor

The common object has been a source of inspiration for many artists from the still lives of fruit painted by Cezanne, to abstractions of paper clips installed in the Chelsea galleries of today. This theme can include conventional still life painting as well as contemporary sculpture and photography. During the Industrial Revolution subjects as diverse as machinery and tools were considered suitable inspiration for artists. We ask artists to find their own muse in the everyday objects around them.
