At the college’s annual benefit gala, held in January 2008 at Cipriani,
FIT and The Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries honored
Myron E. Ullman III, chairman and CEO of JCPenney Company, Inc., for
his retail industry leadership and humanitarian pursuits. Ullman joined
JCPenney in 2004 and today, the retailer has more than 1,000 stores and
155,000 employees. Ullman also has expanded the company’s Afterschool
Fund, which offers programs for at-risk children. Proceeds from the
gala, which totaled $1,012,264, benefitted FIT’s Educational
Development Fund and will help the college address a variety of
priorities such as scholarships, technology, and student services.
