STEVEN FISHMAN, ANURAG SHARMA, AND THE LICHENBERG FAMILY TO BE HONORED AT FITíS 14TH ANNUAL HOME PRODUCTS AWARDS BREAKFAST

Event Funds Scholarships for FIT Home Products Development Students

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) will honor leaders in the home products industry at its 14th annual Scholarship Awards Breakfast, which raises scholarship support for students in FITís Home Products Development program, on March 9 from 7 to 9 am at Cipriani, 110 E. 42nd Street, New York City. The event is co-sponsored by FIT and the Home Fashion Products Association.

Steven Fishman, chairman, president, and CEO, Big Lots, Inc., the nationís largest closeout retailer, will receive the Retailer of the Year Award. Anurag Sharma, president, Welspun Global Brands, Ltd., a leader in home textiles, will receive the Leader in Product Innovation and Marketing Award. The Lichtenberg family, founders of S. Lichtenberg & Co., a leading manufacturer of curtains, draperies, and home fashion products, will receive the Distinguished Family Leadership Award.

Warren Shoulberg, publisher and editor in chief of HFNĖHome Furnishings News, will be master of ceremonies. Event co-chairs are Carl Goldstein, senior vice president, S. Lichtenberg & Co.; J. Barry Leonard, CEO, Croscill, Inc., Ex-Cell Home Fashions, Inc., and Glenoit; Peter G. Scotese, chairman emeritus of FITís Board of Trustees; and Richard Roman, president and CEO, Revman International Inc.

Tickets are $250 per person or $2,500 for a table of ten. FITís program in Home Products Development ó the only one of its kind in the world ó offers studies in both hard (furnishings and accessories) and soft (textile) line classifications. The program was developed with the assistance of members of the home furnishings industry and FIT alumni. Courses include product development, product knowledge, and marketing specific to the home products industry.

The Fashion Institute of Technology is a selective college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York, with 44 majors leading to AAS, BFA, BS, MA, and MPS degrees.
