FIT’s program consists of four courses covering digital video workflow from start to finish – including concept, scripting, production, editing and distribution. Students will develop shooting scripts, budgets and schedules, learning both the technical and narrative aspects of video production. To accommodate as many students as possible, classes will take place on the weekend.
Helped by the growth of broadband internet, today’s online videos are longer and more diverse than their 30-second predecessors of the early 2000s. In addition to YouTube, dedicated online video channels such as Hulu, Blip.tv, and Vimeo are growing in viewership, and many broadcast TV shows can also be viewed for free on the internet. In all, Internet users in the United States currently watch 14.5 billion videos per month.
"Now that broadband is widespread, early adopters of video are ready to professionalize, and many others in traditional marketing careers find they are expected to make the next step to video," said Christine Helm, director of FIT’s Enterprise Center. "Whether you want to create a show for Blip.tv, develop a hip marketing strategy for your business, or brand yourself on YouTube, this is the program for you."
The Enterprise Center is part of FIT’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. The Center provides technical instruction on how to integrate merchandising, marketing, and design with the latest technologies.
