Peer tutors are undergraduate and graduate students who are academically successful and who are interested in working collaboratively with other students. Peer writing consultants provide writing and speaking support to other students through a peer-tutoring model. Writing consultants represent the FIT Writing Studio in tutorial sessions, outreach visits, and in both online and face-to-face interactions with other members of the FIT academic community. Peer writing consultants should be interested in learning about the peer-tutoring model, collaboration, writing and speaking for both academic and non-academic purposes, and technology and other business related issues that will contribute to the success of the day-to-day operations of the Writing Studio. Peer writing consultants can work in one or more of the following tutoring tracts: writing, speaking, and digital literacy. Participation in ongoing staff education and meetings is required. Opportunities for leadership, scholarship, and workplace experience are available.
