Manager of Alumni and Faculty Relations

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), a college of the State University of New York (SUNY), is the premier educational institution for fashion, design, and related professions. FIT provides an unmatched combination of specialized curricula, an in-depth liberal arts education, and an extraordinary location in the center of New York City.
With the goals of enhancing alumni relations and strengthening FIT’s philanthropic support, the Manager of Alumni and Faculty Relations will open new opportunities for communication, collaboration, and consultation in fundraising among faculty, administration, alumni, and Foundation staff. This new position offers a unique opportunity to define and shape a role, which will have an enormous impact on FIT’s fundraising success, in particular the FIT Annual Fund, and a critical role in establishing the first Office of Alumni and Faculty Relations. To achieve the long-term benefits of substantial relationships with alumni, the Manager will focus on establishing relationships for the College with alumni and the FIT Alumni Association by creating a program of activities and services for this constituent group.
Requirements: track record of soliciting annual gifts; experience in growing an annual fund and alumni relations program; strong relationship building skills and the ability to effectively engage and support faculty and alumni in fundraising activities, ideally within a complex environment; collaborative team player; strong communication and writing skills; ability to prioritize and adapt to emerging needs; capacity, creativity, and drive to thrive in the College’s dynamic and diverse community; Experience raising support in the New York City philanthropic market is strongly preferred.
