FIT Student from Bay Ridge Wins SUNY Chancellor's Award
SUNY Vice Chancellor and Officer-In-Charge John J. O’Connor honored 238 college students from SUNY campuses throughout the state with the 2009 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. The average Grade Point Average (GPA) for all recipients this year is 3.77.
“A rigorous three-part process that begins at our campuses evaluates not only each student’s academic, artistic and athletics performance, but also their service to the community,” said O’Connor. “It is my pleasure to congratulate this year’s recipients, their families, and the campuses for their remarkable achievements. These students are truly the best of the best at SUNY today.”
Poslitur received her award at a ceremony in Albany, NY, in April. Born in Sochi, Russia, she graduated with a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from the Andrei Rublyov Academy of Arts in Moscow in 1989. She and her family immigrated to the United States the following year. She is now working as a free-lance illustrator and exhibiting her work at major art competitions and galleries. Her paintings also are in private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
