On-Campus Housing Consideration Based on Disability

To evaluate requests for on-campus housing accommodations based upon medical, psychological or disability-related conditions, FIT requires documentation that includes:
  • A diagnostic statement, including the date of the most recent evaluation
  • The diagnostic criteria or tests used
  • Treatments, medications, devices or services currently prescribed
  • The current impact of the condition
  • The expected duration, stability or progression of the condition
  • The credentials of the diagnosing professional
  • Social, behavioral and emotional evaluations

In addition to the basic documentation, recommendations from the treating professional are given consideration in evaluating the request. Recommendations should:

  • Provide clear descriptions of the recommended housing configuration
  • Connect the recommended configuration to the impact of the condition
  • List alternatives to the recommended configuration.
