Robin Sackin
Robin Sackin is acting dean of the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Prior to becoming acting dean in August 2008, Ms. Sackin served as chairperson of FIT’s Fashion Merchandising Management (FMM) department, a post she assumed in 1999. She joined FIT in 1990 as a full-time assistant professor in FMM and in 2003 received tenure. A member of the executive board of the FIT Faculty Senate since 2002, she previously served on various faculty senate committees. She also served as treasurer and on numerous committees for the United College Employees (UCE) of FIT, from 2001 to 2004. In 2007, Ms. Sackin won the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.
She serves on the board of governors for the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund; and on the advisory board for Executive Women in Fashion, a program for managers in fashion and related industries offered through FIT’s Center for Executive Education.
Before joining FIT, Ms. Sackin served as sourcing manager for the Franklin Mint in Franklin, Pennsylvania, from 1989 to 1990; and before that, in New York City, as import manager for Hanover Direct, divisional manager for Halmode Apparel, and import manager for Frederick Atkins.
Ms. Sackin is currently working on her Master of Science in management at Thomas Edison College. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in fine arts at Rider University.
