Withdrawing from the College

The official withdrawal procedure applies to all full and part-time degree students leaving the college and withdrawing from ALL classes. Complying with this procedure will ensure that your records are maintained in good order and will facilitate readmission to FIT or expedite sending transcripts to other schools.

You may be eligible for a full or partial refund depending on your withdrawal date.  Please see link:  Withdrawals & Refund Periods

There are a number of ways to accomplish a withdrawal:

  1. You can come in person to the Counseling Center in Room A212B during office hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm) to fill out a Withdrawal/Leave of Absence request or;
  2. You can send an email or fax to the Registrar's office by following the directions below:

This information should include:

Name
Social Security Number
Address/Telephone Number
Major/Semester
Reason for Leaving
Signature and Date (if you are not sending information through an email address) 
Photo ID with signature on it (if you are not sending the information through an FIT email address)

Please verify receipt by calling (212) 217-3837.
Please do not call the Counseling Center to confirm receipt.  We only do in-person withdrawals.  The above information is sent to Registrar's office.  They will confirm receipt for you.   

If applicable, students living on campus or receiving financial aid should contact the appropriate offices to inform them of your withdrawal.
