WOMEN ADD 10TH PLACE FINISH AT NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS TO SUCCESSFUL SEASON RESUME; CHESSA EARNS ALL-AMERICA HONORS
The FIT women’s track and field team finished 10th at the NJCAA National Championships, held this past weekend at Alfred State College in Alfred, New York. The finish comes a week after placing 10th at the District Championships. Read More
WOMEN PLACE 10th AT DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS
The women's track and field team finished 10th overall at the NE District Championships held this past weekend, scoring 51 points. Host Essex County College took the Championship, after scoring 186 points. The FIT men did not place at the meet. Read More
OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAM GEARS UP FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The FIT Track and Field team is preparing for their Championship races, with the Northeast District Championships coming up this weekend, followed by the NJCAA Championships the following weekend. The team will travel to Essex Community College on Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29 for the NE Districts, and then take a trip to Alfred State College on May 3-5 for the NJCAA Championships. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TRACK TEAM FOR THEIR EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE THIS YEAR!
The NJCAA Division III National Track and Field Meet was held in Alfred, New York at Alfred State College from May 5 – 7th. On Thursday afternoon, the 4X800m relay team of Brittany Sheeran, Kayan Lee, Caroline Nelson and Monica Sacco ran a time of 11:17.87 (10 seconds faster than their previous best) to finished in 8th place and earn 1 team point. Also on Thursday, Casey Buie competed in the long jump and earned an 8th place finish with a jump of 4.67m. This also earned the team 1 point.
On Friday, Casey Buie competed in the Triple Jump and earned a 9th place finish with a jump of 9.93m. Also on Friday, Monica Sacco competed in the 800m and 400m prelims and qualified for the finals on Friday in both events with times of 60.68 in the 400m and 2:30.64 in the 800m. Brittany Sheeran also competed in the 400m prelims but did not qualify for the finals. However, Brittany did run her best time of the season, 66.54, to place her 17th overall.
On Saturday, Casey Buie competed in the high jump and WON, becoming the first National Champion in Track and Field from F.I.T. She tied her best jump of the season at 1.50m and earned the team 10 points. Also on Saturday, Monica Sacco competed in the finals of the 400m and 800m finishing 6th in the 400m with a time of 60.81 and 6th in the 800m with a time of 2:37.39. Each 6th place finished earned the team 3 points.
F.I.T. finished the meet with 18 total team points and an 11th place team finish out of 24 participating schools.
