Apply: Prospective FIT Students

If you are a Prospective First-Year Student and would like to begin the International Fashion Design program in New York City, you must formally apply to FIT through the regular admissions process; follow this link to Admissions and then choose "How to Apply". Early in your first semester at FIT, stop by the Office of International Programs, Room B119.

If you are a Prospective First-Year Student and would like to begin the International Fashion Design program in Florence, Italy, please follow the instructions below.

*Acceptance to either program does not guarantee a student visa to study in the United States or a student visa to study in Italy.*

Deadline: January 5, 2011 for the 2011-12 academic year

How to Apply:

Your application will be reviewed by both the Office of Admissions and the Fashion Design Department. Applications will be reviewed only when complete.

1. Online Pre-Application 
This is only a pre-application which will allow the Office of International Programs in New York to inform the Admissions Office of your interest in the First-Year in Florence Program. After submitting your online pre-application, you must proceed with 2-5 (and 6 if applicable).

2. Follow the complete Admissions application process. Apply now

Additional Information:

After acceptance into the program, you will be required to purchase and/or obtain health insurance coverage while abroad; proof of vaccinations is also required. Complete details are found in the Health Services office at FIT.

After acceptance, you must review the visa application requirements by visiting the Consulate General of Italy website in their jurisdiction. Visa application requirements are kept updated for accepted applicants residing in the New York jurisdiction.
