How to Apply

Applications for housing are sent by the Admissions Office in your acceptance packet to FIT. If a student does not receive a housing application upon acceptance to the college, one can be obtained directly from the Admissions Office at 212 217.7675 or by faxing a copy of your acceptance letter to Residential Life at 212217.5009.

Here is the step by step guide on how to apply for housing!

New Entering Students

  1. Be accepted into a full-time degree program.
  2. Pay your $150 tuition deposit. Only after this is paid and processed will you be permitted to access the housing application by logging into MyFIT.
  3. Log into MyFIT and choose the “Student Services” tab 
    • Choose “Online Information System”
    • Select “Residential Life”
  4. Select MyHousing and click on the button to “Apply Now” and follow the prompt.
  5. Be sure to select the correct semester and year.

Priority is given to first-time eligible students who have submitted their housing application by June 15th.

If you have any problems with logging in first check with the Bursar’s Office that your deposit has been received and if that is not working call IT to check that your log in information is correct.

Returning Resident Students 

  1. Log into MyFIT and choose “Student Services” tab 
    • Choose “Online Information System”
    • Select “Residential Life” 
    • Select MyHousing Click Step 1. You will be asked for your emergency contact info.
  2. Select Roommates (See start date)
    • Students requesting to room together must return to MyHousing.
    • Click "Roommate Requests" to enter your choice of roommate(s). You must have your roommate(s) student ID number (@xxxxxxxx) and name.

      You cannot choose roommate(s) who have not completed Step 1. Each of you must log-in and request each other under Step 2. 
       
  3. Select A Room
    • Students will receive an email indicating their lottery number and date/time to select a room.
    • At your designated date/time, go to MyHousing and click "Room Selection". It is recommended that you select a room at the earliest assigned date and time.
    • If you do not select a room by the set deadline you will be removed from the lottery process and no longer eligible for housing.
