Concentrations

A Concentration is a group of Liberal Arts courses focused around a particular area of study. FIT currently offers two concentrations:
  • The Asia Concentration focuses on courses dealing with Asian art, literature, philosophy, politics, culture, and language.
  • The Latin American Concentration includes language (2 semesters of Spanish), literature, philosophy, the history of art, politics and culture.

What are the benefits of choosing a Concentration?

  • Depth of knowledge of a particular area, which can be indicated on your resume giving you something extra to offer potential employers.
  • Official record of the Concentration on your transcript
  • A more cohesive Liberal Arts program
  • A personal advisor from the Liberal Arts faculty to help you choose your courses and answer questions about other academic issues.

Eligibility
Any student in good standing (Grade Point Average of at least 2.0) who has been accepted into an FIT bachelors program. Students should sign up before registration for their 5th semester courses, i.e. before beginning the “upper division.”

You must take a minimum of 15 credits in the concentration, which in Liberal Arts means 5 three-credit courses. If you have room in your schedule, you may take more than the minimum.
