Withdrawals & Refund Periods

If you want to withdraw and have your tuition refunded, you must follow the official withdrawal procedure.

Not attending class or stopping payment on a check is not considered an official withdrawal from the college and you will be responsible for all tuition liabilities. No refunds of tuition and fees paid to the college will be processed/permitted unless an official withdrawal form is submitted in the required time period to the Registrar's Office or on-line during the first week of classes. The date on which the withdrawal application is received by the college or processed on line is considered the official date of your withdrawal. All non-financial aid refunds will be processed after the last day of the drop/add period.  The time period for receiving a refund for non-financial students may take up to 6 or 8 weeks.  If you wish to receive a refund prior to this time frame, please notify the Bursar's Cashiering Office located in Business & Liberal Arts Center, Room 127.  Students who paid by credit card will receive a refund credit to their credit card. 

Refunds are issued according to the following schedule for students not receiving Financial Aid Funds.

Summer 1 - 2013

Withdrawal on or before:

May 24, 2013 - 100% refund

May 28, 2013 - 75% refund

May 29, 2013 - 50% refund

May 30, 2013 - 25% refund

No refunds after: May 30, 2013

Summer 2 - 2013
Withdrawal on or before:
July 1, 2013 - 100% refund
July 2, 2013 -  75% refund
July 3, 2013 - 50% refund
July 8, 2013 - 25% refund
No refunds after: July 8, 2013

Spring 2013
Withdrawal on or before:
January 27, 2013 - 100% refund
February 1, 2013 -  75% refund
February 8, 2013 - 50% refund
February 15, 2013 - 25% refund
No refunds after: February 15, 2013

 

 Withdraws for students receiving  Title IV Funds will be processed according to Federal Regulations.  Please refer to the Financial Aid Handbook, financial aid office or www.fitnyc.edu/financialaid.
