Outerwear and Performance Apparel
Outerwear - especially the performance category - is the fastest growing segment in the fashion industry. FIT's Outerwear and Performance Apparel Certificate Program was developed in response to the need for trained professionals with the ability to design and manufacture both men's and women's outerwear and performance products. Learning the latest techniques in this highly specialized field, students are prepared to meet the challenges of the new technology-oriented apparel industry.
The program consists of six courses in the following areas: accessories (LD 251), outerwear design (AP 281), performance apparel design (AP 282), portfolio design (AR 291), sewing techniques (AP 144), and textile technology (TS 171), offered over a three to four-semester time span.
