FIT encourages access to higher education by individuals from historically disadvantaged and underrepresented groups through its Educational Opportunity Program. Established at the college in 1973, the EOP provides expanded academic and personal support services that promote the development of success-oriented skills to eligible and capable individuals who want the opportunity to participate at the post-secondary school level.

These services fall within the following six categories:

  • Academic advisement
  • Academic support workshops
  • Individualized counseling
  • Tutorial assistance
  • Peer mentoring
  • Personal and career enhancement skills

The EOP also provides advocacy for students who experience academic difficulty and offers eligible students additional financial assistance.

FIT is committed to prohibiting discrimination in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws (including, but not limited to, race, national origin, gender, age, and disability) and to providing equal opportunity in educational programs.
