1. Completed application may be submitted from September 15 - March 15.
2. Transcripts
Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in an appropriate major from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. Request transcripts of all official post-secondary education documents (transcripts, diplomas, and/or certificates) to be sent directly to FIT. Transcripts must be sent in the original sealed envelopes from the issuing institutions. Note: FIT will only accept academic documents and transcripts which have been officially attested (bearing the stamp/signature of the registrar or designated officer) and sealed in an envelope by the issuing institution. Students educated outside the US should see International Student Credentials.
3. Essay
A two-page typed essay explaining your interest in the program including pertinent work and travel experience. Please also include your future professional objectives.
4. English Proficiency
Applicants who hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university where English is the primary language of instruction are exempt from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
The minimum TOEFL score requirement depends on which test format you are using:
The minimum IELTS band score of 6.5 in the academic module is required.
- Internet-based (ibt) test: minimum score must be 80
- Computer-based test: minimum score must be 213
- Paper-based test: minimum score must be 550
Applicants who have completed an English composition course at a college in the U.S. are not exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS.
Applicants who have completed less than four years of English at a college or university where English is the primary language of instruction are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS.
Forward TOEFL scores to the Office of The School of Graduate Studies. FIT’s report code number is 2257 (Institution); 99 (department).
5. Résumé 6. Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation, including one from a college or university faculty member with whom you have studied and two from professionals with whom you have worked. Request that sealed letters of recommendation be sent to the Office of The School of Graduate Studies.
7. Additional Requirements
Prior to matriculation, candidates are required to have satisfactorily completed undergraduate courses in marketing principles, macroeconomics, and accounting or finance. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of work experience in an industry related to their course of study. Preference is given to candidates with five years of work experience, and the equivalent of two years of college-level foreign language.
8. Interview
Select applicants will be contacted by the Office of Graduate Studies to schedule an interview.
