FIT Track and Field 2014 Osprey Open

(Stockton, NJ) It was a windy day at the Stockton College Track on Saturday, but that did not stop the Lady Tigers from competing with a rawr! It was an extremely exciting weekend as Hannah Duncan qualified for nationals in the 1500 meter run, and Meredith Gill set the FIT School Record in the discus! The weeks of hard work are definitely paying off for these ladies.

Shayna Fairclough competed in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. In the 100 meter dash she sprinted to a time of 15.32 to finish in 20th place. As for the 200 meter dash Shayna dug deep and captured 12th place in a time of 28.84.

In the 1500 meter run Hannah Duncan ran a smart race and pushed to the time of 5:32, which hit the qualifying mark to send her to nationals! This time was also a personal best by almost 12 seconds from the previous week. She placed 25th overall in the meet. Way to go Hannah!

Sidnee Compere competed in the 100 meter hurdles gutting out a stellar performance good for a 3rd place finish in a time of 18.22. Sidnee also raced the 200 meter dash placing 21st in a time of 30.84.

Meredith Gill had an exhilarating weekend in the field events. She competed in the shot put and placed 24th with a heave of 7.21 meters. She also competed in the discus, setting the FIT School record with a throw of 13.13 meters, good for 20th place overall in the meet.

It goes without saying that the Lady Tigers made many strides and tosses of improvement this weekend. The team has been constantly focusing on improving to get as many individuals to Nationals as possible. Next weekend the Tigers will travel to Ewing, New Jersey to compete in the prestigious New Jersey Invitational. Stay tuned for updates of more national qualifiers and personal records from these talented ladies.
