by Carrie Thomas
(New York, NY) FIT Tigersí middle blocker and tri-captain, Megan Houff from Longmeadow, MA, has been named to the 2013 NJCAA Division III Volleyball All American First team. Houff had many achievements that led up to this outstanding honor. She was named Region 15 Player of the Year for the second year in a row as well as being named to the All Region First Team. Megan paced the Tigers to a Region 15 title to earn a berth in the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament in Rochester, MN , where Megan was named to the All Tournament team on both occasions. She was also named to the 2013 Dragon City Invite All Tournament Team. In Week 7 she was named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week.
Coach Carrie Thomas had this to say about Megan and her accomplishment(s), ďMegan is a true leader on the FIT Volleyball team. She is confident in her abilities on the court and you can see this confidence reflect in her teammates. She is able to rally her team and keep the momentum and intensity instilled in them. She radiates pure goodwill, confidence, enjoyment, happiness, peace and productivity on the court, as well as in the classroom and life in general. Megan takes full credit for her own actions. She is never one to blame others for hers or her teamís errors. She continues to make challenging choices about respect and integrity, and most importantly how to influence, lead, and persuade others in a positive way. Megan is extremely deserving of this award. It puts the icing on the cake to close out a stellar collegiate volleyball career. I want to wish her the best of luck in all that she does. ď
Megan is a Fashion Merchandising Management major. She has been on the 2012-2013 Deanís List. Megan also received the SUNY Chancellorís Award last spring.
