Women's Soccer Splits the Weekend
By Briana Marquit
This weekend the FIT tigers faced off in two games. Saturday the soccer team took on Nassau Community college at Mitchell field Long island. The larger then used to field resulted in some problems for the girls as they suffered a 3-0 defeat. The Tigers held their ground for the first half as goalie Katelyn Snow made great saves and a special save from a penalty kick. The defense and midfield were strong and the girls worked well together keeping Nassau from scoring. The second half however the girls were defeated with 3 goals.
“The girls played really well for being new to a field this big. We will work hard on shape and possession this week in practice” Coach Cappy said applauding the girls “They continue to grow and progress every week and hopefully we can get a win next weekend!” The girls meet Nassau again next weekend on October 6thas a home game at Kingsborough College.
The next day FIT traveled to Kingsborough to play Kingsborough Community College for a second time. The team played well and did a great job with ball possession as they won 7-1. Goals were scored by Mary Snyder, Hayley Reid, Emily Laroe, Katelyn Barreieros, and Erika Renstrom. The tigers moved the ball well and made great passes the entire game. It was a great game to get the girls spirits back up after a loss.
The Tigers next game is Sunday at Kingsborough for a rematch against Nassau.
