Alumni Survey

FIT administers an annual survey of alumni who graduated during the previous academic year with either an associate or bachelorís degree. This one-year-out survey asks graduates about their current education and employment status, satisfaction with their overall FIT experience, and skills gained at FIT. The current survey was administered in May 2012, and surveyed graduates from the 2010-2011 academic year.

Key Results

Employment and School Attendance

  • A high proportion (74%) of associate degree graduates self-reported that they continued their education after graduating, with 71% doing so in FIT bachelorís degree programs. Far fewer of the bachelorís graduates (4%) reported continuing on to further schooling.†
  • Fifty-five percent of associate degree graduates reported that they were employed, with 16% being unemployed and seeking employment and 29% not working and not seeking employment. Most of those who were not seeking employment were attending school.†
  • Eighty-eight percent of bachelorís graduates reported being employed, with 71% reporting employment in a job related to their degree. Nine percent reported being unemployed (not working and seeking employment) and two percent were not working but not seeking employment.†
  • A placement rate, which is used for federal Higher Education Act reporting requirements, is calculated for students who are employed or seeking employment. This placement rate equals the number of employed graduates as a percentage of the total of employed graduates and those who are seeking employment. The placement rate for associate degree graduates was 77% and the placement rate for bachelorís degree graduates was 90%.
