Information for Parents

The transition from high school to college is a big step that involves big changes. Adjusting to a faster-paced schedule with so many opportunities and responsibilities – not to mention the allure of a campus in the heart of Manhattan – can be difficult and confusing.

At the Academic Advisement Center, we are dedicated to helping your student towards academic success. We help your student to understand the overall degree curriculum and how courses relate to each other. We provide support to help your student manage FIT’s many academic responsibilities and deadlines. Our advisors work with your student to explore academic goals and to create customized, realistic plans to achieve them. We also act as a central point of contact, guiding students toward resources and offices throughout the FIT community.

We care about the academic success of each student we advise, and we are attentive to your student’s concerns and issues. We advocate for students and, more importantly, we help students find the resources and information they need to become their own advocates, both at FIT and beyond.
