What is Completion Day?
On October 3, FIT joined 36 other State University of New York (SUNY) and City University of New York (CUNY) community colleges to send a simple message: Students who complete an associate degree have better prospects for jobs, scholarships, and transfer to four-year schools.
Completion Day included events to help students understand how completing a degree can change their lives, change their communities, and change the nation.
| Why should I complete my degree? » Students who complete an associate degree can expect to earn $400,000 more in a lifetime than a high school graduate. » Unemployment for community college graduates is typically 30 percent lower than for high school grads. » New York residents who transfer directly from a SUNY two-year college with an associate degree are guaranteed entry to a four-year SUNY college. |
|
| What if I plan to transfer after one year or just take one or two classes I need? Most community college students will benefit from completing a degree or certificate program, but the key to success for anyone is to have a goal and a plan to reach it. If you’ve done that much, you’re ahead of the game. |
Where do I start? FIT has many resources available to help you reach your goal to graduate. Talk to your advisor to find out more. |
