JESSICA MCHUGH WINS NJCAA 6TH FLIGHT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP; TEAM PLACES 3RD

The women's tennis team placed 3rd overall at the NJCAA National Championships held at the Billie Jean Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. Freshman Jessica McHugh was a National Champion, after winning the singles championship, flight 6.
Jessica McHugh finished her 6th flight singles bracket without blemish, going into play at the top seeded student-athlete and defeating all her opponents in straight sets, save the final match. Her counterpart in the finals was second seeded Alina Vitukhnovskay from Mercer CC, who Jessica defeated 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Her victory in the flight also earned her First Team All-American and First Team All-Region status.
Also having strong finishes were Sara Julio, who placed second in flight 2, earning 2nd Team All-American and First Team All-Region honors. Earlier in the day, she teamed up with Sara Pink to finish 2nd in the country in 2nd doubles, earning them both spots on the 2nd Team All-American and First Team All-Region squads.
