Martha Schwendener has published extensively in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Village Voice, Artforum, Bookforum, Art in America, Time Out New York, Flash Art, and other publications. She has written many essays for exhibition catalogues, including, most recently “Writing, Painting, History” for “That Is Then. This is Now,” curated by Robert Storr and Irving Sandler at Cue Foundation, New York, 2010. Last year she appeared on WNYC to discuss the Anselm Keifer exhibit at Gagosian Gallery. She was a guest critic and lecturer in the MFA program at New York University and Parsons MFA in photography during the summer of 2011, and she has an essay about art writing and language, titled “Resistant” forthcoming in the art journal Paper Monument.
