Martin Wittig

Martin WittigMartin Wittig was born in Poughkeepsie, NY. He began drawing at a young age and was always fascinated by cartoons. When Martin was in high school, he began drawing comics and cartoon characters of his own and realized that he wanted to go to Art School. However, he enlisted in the Army before starting his senior year of high school to help pay for his college education. Upon successfully completing his military training and becoming an Intelligence Analyst within the Army Reserves, he started his college education at the School of Visual Arts. While at SVA, Martin focused his curriculum around a variety of Illustration and Life Drawing classes. In the summer after his freshman year at SVA, Martin was offered an opportunity to work as a Layout artist on MTV’s “The Beavis and Butthead Movie”.  This invaluable job experience gave Martin an important first look into the world of Animation.

While at SVA, Martin was one of 33 students from US and Canada accepted to attend the Disney Animation Boot Camp. The program was taught by Disney’s leading animators, background painters, and layout artists, and the training that he received there was the single biggest influence on his career to become a Character Designer.

Since then, Martin worked on a variety of projects in feature and television Animation and Advertising as a Character Designer. His clients include Cartoon Network, Disney, Blue Sky, Laika, Prana Studios, General Mills, Digital Kitchen, Ghostbot, Chuck Gammage Animation, Nickelodeon, MTV, Discovery, Nexus and Rhino Studios.
