Murray Tinkelman

Murray TinkelmanMurray Tinkelman had his first illustration published in Seventeen Magazine in 1951.

Since then he has won Silver and Gold medals for his work from the Society of Illustrators, The New York Art Directors Club, and the Society of Publication Designers as well as receiving over 200 Certificates of Merit from the Society of Illustrators.

He has also had one-man exhibitions of his work in many Museums, Universities and Galleries.

Murray was the Founding Chair of the Illustration Program at Parsons School of Design where he also taught for fourteen years. He taught at the undergraduate and graduate level at Syracuse University for twenty-seven years and was the Senior Advisor in the MA in Illustration program. He is now Professor Emeritus from Syracuse. Murray is the Director of the MFA in Illustration program at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford.

Murray teaches the History of American Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in the MFA in Illustration program.

Murray also enjoys traveling around the country giving slide presentations on the History of American Illustration and related topics at Colleges and Universities.
