Certified Technical Designer

Technical training for experienced designers, patternmakers and product developers looking to develop a specialty in technical design and for technical designers looking to improve their performance.

Not all courses are offered every semester.

A total of 10 courses (7 required and 3 personal choice) is needed to complete this certificate.

Required courses (recommended in this order- Students new to the field should first take SXP 600 before taking these required courses.)

Students interested in a Professional Development Certificate of completion must file an affidavit form after completing the first course in the certificate. This will also enable you to obtain your official FIT ID. To access the form log into your account at, in your student tab click on Online Information System, in the Main Menu click on Student, then click Online Certificate Declaration and proceed to declare your noncredit certificate.
