HS Fabric Styling Course Descriptions

Use fabric to coordinate a look or mood by selecting colors and designs for applications in apparel, home furnishings, and decorative items. Forecast the next season’s trends. 

HFS 180 Fabric Styling for Fashion
Do your friends always ask you to help them pick out clothes and decide what to wear? Do you often look through fashion magazines? Perhaps a career in celebrity or photo styling is for you. Study color, pattern, texture and the skills necessary to make it all work together. Gallery

Precollege comments: Field trips include fabric and specialty trim shops in the area (free samples available!) Students create up to 3 fashion identity boards for their portfolios based on real-life stylist assignments.

HFS 182 Develop an Eye for Styling
Fabric Stylists explore the world around them through a distinctive visual lens.  With an artistic foundation, stylists coordinate fabrics, with pattern, color, mood, balance and a sense of rhythm to achieve a harmonious balance.  With a continuous pursuit of current trends they apply their talent and flair to creations and applications in apparel, fashion, and lifestyle. Students create mood/style boards for their portfolio, highlighting the current fashion mode for clothing, celebrity, and the aesthetic qualities of textiles; texture, color, and pattern.
